I have noted the arrangements above and agree to the named young person taking part. I understand that the event Leader reserves the right to send any participants home if deemed necessary.

If it becomes necessary for the above named young person to receive medical treatment and I cannot be contacted to authorise this, I hereby give my general consent to any necessary medical treatment and authorise the Leader in charge to sign any document required by the hospital authorities.

Well the dark nights are coming in and we have come indoors but not always into the dry.

We had a night down at Waves with 26 scouts turning up. The new BEEZ card makes for a cheap night with nearly everyone getting free admission. It’s a hard night for the leaders. While the kids run around and have fun we are forced to sit on hard seats drinking tea for about an hour and a half and try to sort out what we are doing for the next few months.

The following night saw the great egg challenge with paper towers, egg and spoon races and other daft things being done and surprisingly not too many broken eggs.

We followed this up with a quiz night which was sort of ok but the scouts seemed to have more fun just tearing up news papers and throwing paper ball at each other.

In a strange way we are becoming victims of our own success. The way we ran the troop when we had about a dozen scouts is not necessarily the way to run it with nearly 30 scouts there on most troop nights. We are having a major rethink of the programme and how we operate but the one thing we do know is that we will need more adult help. We have a couple of Dads coming down regularly, and last week we had our first female young leader come down to try us out. Thanks to Sophie and we hope she decides to stick with us. However we can always use more help, you know where to find us.
